We all know the harmful effects of the sun touching our skin, so we ready ourselves with sunscreen to block the rays.

But what about our EYES?

What would happen if we stare directly at the sun?

We all know that the sun is a star, in fact it's the closest star to earth. The sun is 94.5 million miles away from the Earth. The electromagnetic waves from the sun's radiation is deadly that's when sunscreen comes in handy. People have suffered tragical health problems due to the sun's radiation. The human skin is very sensitive to the electromagnetic waves that come from the sun. So considering this, imagine staring into the sun with our very sensitive eyes...

You might suffer permanent blindness. Never ever look into the sun, even if it's for a second. The sun's bright light will damage the inner cells of your eye burning the tissues.

The reason why the sun is so dangerous for the human eye is because the sun's ultraviolet light will flood the cornea in your eye, causing permanent or temporary damage. Basically if you look at the sun, your eyes will experience sunburns and nobody wants that.

How About For Those Who Enjoy Looking At The Sunset?

Why Does The Sun Not Cause Damage At That Time?

That's because the sun is at it's weakest point of the day as supposed to the middle of the day. At this stage, it's safe to look at the sun.

The sun has helped us in many ways such as solar panels, farms, crops, drying clothes, having light are all of the ways sun helped us.

But it can cause bad things too. Remember the sun is one big gigantic star.

Suffice to say, there's nothing good about staring at the sun, so do your eyes a favor and avoid looking at it. After all, there are around 6000 stars in the night sky which you can surely observe for as long you wish :)
